SugarHill Recording Studios, located in Houston, Texas, is the oldest continuously operating studio in Texas and in the South. Renowned for its collection of vintage gear, reverb chamber rooms, EMT plates and a long history of music, SugarHill celebrated its 65th year of operation in October 2006. From the very beginning of operations, SugarHill was instrumental in launching the careers of artists such as Freddy Fender, George Jones, The Big Bopper, Lightnin? Hopkins and the Sir Douglas Quintet. Established in October 1941 by Bill Quinn under the name of Quinn Recording, the studio has been a landmark in the Houston music community, particularly since it is the oldest continuously operating studio in both Texas and in the Southern United States.
