Long-View

Radio de Long-View

Longview (hyphen in article title was inserted due to a clash with the American bluegrass group named Longview) are a shoegazing indie rock band hailing from Winchester and Manchester. Its members are German electronic musician and producer Ulrich Schnauss, chief songwriter Rob McVey, guitar player Doug Morch, and bass player Aidan Banks. Matt Dabbs left the band for family reasons during 2007. The band formed in Manchester in 2002 and built its reputation with several appearances at the Night and Day Cafe. Longview subsequently signed to 14th Floor Recordings. Their debut album, Mercury, was released in July 2003. Several singles were released from the album including their best known song, 'Further' (often mistaken as a Christian song), which featured on One Tree Hill. Notable other releases include a cover of Depeche Mode's 'Stripped' which was only available as a digital download or on limited edition vinyl, and 'In a Dream'. Although the band had played a handful of concerts during 2007, a second album did not appear. In January 2008 Longview played a series of intimate gigs in which new tracks 'History', 'Loss', 'Fires' and 'Why' were available to fans. At the London show on 26th March 2008, Rob announced the band would be entering the studio in April to record the next album, which will be released in September. In May, the official website announced 11 tour dates between August and October, likely to coincide with the release of the new album.
