Lucy Pearl was an R&B supergroup formed in 1999 as the brainchild of former Tony! Toni! Toné! member Raphael Saadiq and D?Angelo. D?Angelo backed out of the group due to his schedule though. The other members of Lucy Pearl were Dawn Robinson (formerly of En Vogue) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (formerly of A Tribe Called Quest). They released their self-titled debut album Lucy Pearl in 2000. After two singles, "Dance Tonight" and "Don't Mess with My Man", Dawn Robinson left and was replaced by Joi. Rashon Graves was placed in Lucy Pearl in 2008 but shortly left the group due to issues with fellow band mate Joi. Rashon told MTV news that he does not regret anything while with the group but it was best that he and Lucy Pearl part ways. Rashon joined another group "The Bad Girls Club" in 2008.
