Martin Sexton is a musician originally from the Syracuse, New York area, and the brother of musician Colleen Sexton. Martin Sexton began his career as a street performer in Boston's Harvard Square. With just a guitar and his multi-octave, jazz-inflected voice, he managed to sell 15,000 copies of his 1992 demo IN THE JOURNEY out of his guitar case. His strong live performances won him a Boston Music Award for "Best New Artist" and led to his being named "Artist of the Year" by the National Academy of Songwriters in 1994.[1]
