Ms. Jade (born Chevon Young c. 1978) is a rapper from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jade up in a section of Philadelphia called Nicetown, and competed in local high school talent shows, winning one of them. After her graduation in 1997 she went to beauty school for 2 years. While in beauty school she began to write songs and did back up vocals at a local studio. By 1999 she had already recorded some tracks of her own. A year later in August 2000 she auditioned for Missy Elliott leading Missy to call Timbaland and signing her to a record deal. In 2001 Jade made a guest appearance on Missy Elliott's album Miss E. . . So Addictive and on Timbaland & Magoo's Indecent Proposal album. She recorded her first album that year. In November 2002 she released her first album Girl Interrupted and toured with Ludacris and Nelly Furtado. She appeared in a video with Slum Village.
