Simon Dawes is an up-and-coming rock band from Malibu, California, who recently moved to Northridge, California. The band is currently signed with Record Collection and just recently they released their debut full-length, Carnivore. They have two previously released EPs as well. The story behind the band's name is a mystery, as many different sources have many different stories. The biography on their website simply states "Simon Dawes is a band... named after no one." It is speculated that, because it sounds similar to Simon Does, it may be a reference to the children's game Simon Says. The band is composed of four friends. Its founding members Taylor Goldsmith (vocals, guitar, keys, lyrics) and Blake Mills (vocals, guitar, and lyrics) began playing music together in junior high, and their sound evolved and became Simon Dawes with the addition of Wylie Gelber (bass) and Stuart Johnson (drums). Stuart Johnson is no longer in the band, he has been replaced by Taylor's 18 year old brother Griffen.
