The Maccabees

The Maccabees

The Maccabees are an English indie band, based in Brighton and originally from south London. They have released one album so far, Colour It In, and are currently writing material for the follow-up, which is expected to be release in early 2009. There is also an American band with the same name.[citation needed] The band came up with the name by flicking through the Bible and picking out a random word.. Despite adopting a name with religious connotations, lead singer Orlando Weeks has more recently affirmed, in an interview on Steve Lamacq's BBC Radio 1 show, that none of the band are religious. Their debut single, 'X-Ray', was released on Promise records on 28 November 2005, and received some evening play on London radio station Xfm London. They received little significant exposure, however, until six months later, when they released their second single, 'Latchmere', the subject of which is the wave machine at the Latchmere Leisure Centre in Battersea, South London[citation needed], on Fierce Panda Records in April 2006. This was championed by Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq and received airtime on MTV2. The video, directed by Hugh (Sportsday Megaphone)Frost and Samuel Bebbington, also proved an internet hit after it was posted on YouTube.

Letra de William Powers
There is love, there is lust
there is love fueled lust
and a thing called trust which i must not break for you
forsake in all others but you

there is storms amungst break ???
there are things i must do,
things i must not do, to break for you
forsake in all others but you

and i will see you when your older, when we are older
and i will see you when your older, when we are older

strong arms they held you to it
thats what they sing in shaddows
whats all this nonsense in the dark

we were bend in no dout stretched
pull at the seems at the 4 legged jeans
for whats is at stake
i will not break for you
forsake in all others but you

and i will see you when your older, when we are older
and i will see you when your older, when we are older

and in faith i left you to it
its what they sing in the shaddows
there is all this nonsense in the dark
and left you in strong arms
two strong arms that held you throught it
and i blew it, and i blew it

now now now now now there is something in it
now now now now now we have grown up with it
now now now now now we know that thats enough and thats enough

and now now now now now there is something in it
now now now now now we have grown up with it
now now now now now we know that thats enough and thats enough for now

and thats enough
and thats enough for now
